5.0 out of 5 stars DON'T MISS IT!, March 15, 2000
By A Customer
I'd never heard of this show, but I love good British comedy in the style of To the Manor Born, Good Neighbors, etc., so I bought this first volume on a whim. Now I've got all four videos, and watch them repeatedly. The comedy is a nice blend of kooky characters, witty dialogue, and clever situations. But there's also strong, positive character development and a tenderness that I didn't expect. One of the best series out there -- PLEASE tell me there will be more to follow!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent and hilarious, February 2, 2000
By A Customer
In a world of entertainment which rarely provides any intelligent (not to mention damn funny) look at faith, the Vicar of Dibley is a refreshing and truly enjoyable series. Far and away the best church-related show on television, and highly underrated in the U.S.!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dawn French is Wonderful, July 27, 2000
By Peantell (Dallas, TX USA) - See all my reviews
Dawn French, one of the British long time treasures, has found her way into the series so appropiately named "The Vicar of Dibley". There are realitively few episodes of this series compared to U.S. television standards, but each episode is a gem.

Dawn filmed most of these episoes a few years ago, and recently the BBC America channel had her 4 new hour long shows, each named after the season of the year (Summer, Spring....) that the show addresses. These 4 new shows follow Dawn and her zany villager paritioners through a complete year in the village (in TV land).

I strongly recommend buying this episode and any others you can get your hands on. You won't be disappointed. Television at its best, made possible by the wife of another British TV star, Lenny Henery of CHEF fame. Dawn and Lenny have been married(hope they are still together) for s number of years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny holds the jokes wher they are!
Dibley is a village somewhere in England full of rather peculiar people. Three episodes from this popular TV comedy series: 'Arrival', 'Songs Of Praise' and 'Community Spirit'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who needs Seinfeld when you have the Vicar of Dibley!
This has to be the funniest show on the face of the earth. You have never seen a vicar like Geraldine and Alice is a hoot. You won't be sorry if you give it a chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars All things humble and hilarious
I thought I'd seen all the Britcoms 'till I saw the Vicar of Dibley. One part Dickens, one part Hooterville, and a liberal dash of Kurt Vonnegut. Read more
