5.0 out of 5 stars BEST FILM I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE, December 5, 2000
By A Customer
I don't claim to be any kind of movie critic, but I must say something about this movie, because it was definitely the best film I've seen in a while. There were some brilliant scenes, and the technique was quite original. It was enlightening to see a creative twist on the "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy tries to get girl back" theme. I loved the message, and Stephen Dorff's performance was powerful and believable. For those who did not understand or appreciate this film (as I've seen in other reviews), I pity you. Although I do realize that maybe if you can not relate to the message of the movie then it might not affect you as much as it affected me. But if you have ever lost the one person who was perfect for you, and if you are someone who is in touch with your dark side, who enjoys a comedic look at the trials and tribulations of everyday life and love, then this movie will entertain and enlighten you. I anticipate watching this movie again, and I strongly recommend it, for not only is it brilliantly arranged, but it is just one of those films that tugs at your emotions and makes you think about your life, regardless of who you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was an unexpected treat!, June 15, 2005

I was flipping through channels when I ran into this movie, not knowing what the title was. After seeing Dorff's mug, I figured this was going to be another crappy movie; I never liked any of his movies... till this one. I missed the first 10 minutes but the few seconds I saw drew me in almost instantaneously. I've always thought Dorff as being typecasted as a movie "baddie" or heel. This movie absolutely redeemed Dorff's image as being a very versatile actor. The movie also had plenty of twists and side stories that kept me amused ( I enjoyed the talking cat scene); and the small narration scenes was a welcome treat due to the humor behind it. A must see! Independent films rock!... not to mention the cameo of U2 added the icing on the topping. This film will definitely be added to my library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stephen Hasn't Been This Hilarious Since, Candy Darling, May 24, 2004
By A Customer
Finally Stephen plays a role worthy of his talents. He is the perfect lead in a dramatic comedy and I love to see him in these types of roles. Entropy is a very entertaining film filled with cameos, music and even a talking cat.

Jake is a director pulled in ten different directions when he meets up with his soul mate, Stella ( Judith Godreche ) a flighty model who sticks by Jake no matter how daunting his career is. Once Jake loses his mind during his latest film, Stella opts they go their separate ways. This is when the movie lost some of its sense. Jake got married for no reason, and there were a lot of thrown in parts that didn't add to the story. Entropy is one of those films that moves so fast you'd better pay attention or you will get lost if you miss a scene. The characters shift from place to place so often you can't keep up. This keeps the film from getting boring but too confusing. Jake narrates the film and it's hard to tell what's truly happening compared to what he's just thinking about. Bono from U2, Lauren Holly have cameo roles. Stephen does a wonderful job playing Jake. It reminded me of his fantastic role as Candy Darling in I Shot Andy Warhol. I recommend this for lovers of high-tech romantic comedies of the 1990's.

Is this title out of print? Why isn't it available on DVD? What a waste.
