"Image Entertainment's MASTERS OF RUSSIAN ANIMATION series of DVD's is dedicated to showing off some of the most prized, beautiful and award winning Russian animation...Volume 3 covers animated shorts from the years 1979 to 1985, and the result is absolutely captivating. Anyone who still thinks animation is "just for kids" should really sit down and watch the lovely, haunting,and unforgetable images on this disc. This is a 'feature-only" presentation; there are no extras included on the DVD. But once you watch these shorts, with a running time of over two hours, you will be swept into another world... The lush world of "Hunt" literally took my breath away, as did the soft othrworld-ness of "Cabaret." Just to have all of this animation simply available is a wonder in itself. My only real complaint is that now I have to go out and find Masters of Russian Animation Volums 1 and 2, and I don't think I'll be able to rest until I do. For animation fans anywhre, this idsc is an absolute must."

This is like watching a children's book come to life. If you enjoy the imagery of illustration, than this series is for you. Yuri Norstein dominates this collection with "Tale of Tales", one of the best animated shorts in the history of animation.Every one of these shorts is amazing and I would recommend it to any parent, librarian, teacher, or educator that wants to show something better that the corporate, lifeless animation that is being produced today.This has heart it every cell!

This collection is a must-have for every animation lovers. Yuri Norstein's «Tale of Tales» is a true masterpiece, absolutely brillant and enigmatic. It has be chosen Best Animation Film of All Time twice (in 1984 and 2002) by a jury of selected film critics and historians. Only for this film, you must buy this collection today. In addition, you'll get 11 other superb shorts from the Soyuzmultfilm studio (the russian Disney, but much better).You won't regret your purchase.
