"The Thai ceramics in the Gallery include almost every known type of export ware. Of particular note are the architectural ceramics which were created with great flair for the adornment of the palaces and the temples in the kingdom of Sukhothai."

"The Vietnamese collection comprises mostly trade ware recovered from shipwreck, burial, and habitation sites..." "The ceramics range from a specially commissioned blue-and-white wall tile from the east Javanese kingdom of Majapahit to a rare inkstone in the form of a large mud crab."

The monochromatic Khmer ware "provide a unique insight into the powerful Hindu and Buddhist roots" of the region, particularly the zoomorphic and anthropomorphic pots that "reveal something of the wit and humour of the Cambodian people."
