This book is the first book in English on the art, methods, regulations, techniques and tactics of Silat Olahraga (or Sports Silat). Silat Olahraga was recently featured on the Discovery Channel's series "Fight Quest". The Silat competition held at the end of the training in Indonesia was based upon Silat Olahraga rules.

Silat Olahraga has standardized rules and regulations that permit Silat practitioners from different countries and disciplines to compete with one another.

Silat Olahraga is enthusiastically supported by the national sports federations of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines and is now a part of the SEA (South East Asia) Games.

This book draws upon the techniques of Seni Silat Gayong Fatani, which is a Silat system popular in Southern Thailand and Northern Malaysia. It's 500 photographs and detailed text make it an excellent reference for anyone interested Silat, Southeast Asian martial arts or Sports Silat.
