5.0 out of 5 stars Billi Lim is a real inspiration...his book helps the reader to understand the value of failure!, December 2, 2007
This review is from: Dare to Fail (Paperback)
I had bought this book to read, out of sheer curiosity, during the nineties when it was first released. The printing as well as paper quality of my copy was unfortunately quite bad. Some of the pages almost disintegrated from the book spine after flipping through.

Nevertheless, after reading it, I was very impressed by the author for sharing, with the world, his personal as well as business failures, in his chequered life as he progressed from a being a poor village boy in Malaysia to achieving status as an enterprising global salesman.

Using his own personal background of trials & tribulations, he gave a pretty good account of the lessons he had learned from his own failures.

He helped the reader to analyse the value of failure through the following major questions:

- why should we fail?

- is failing all that bad?

- what does it take to face failure?

- what if all else fails?

For that, he did a very good job. His writing was interspersed with numerous amusing anecdotes & motivating quotations.

For reader's convenience, I hereby reproduce the content layout of the book:

1. Childhood

2. College and campus days

3. Our company "created"

4. Going back to work for people

5. Failing

6. Value of failing

7. Fear of failure

8. Failure in relationships

9. Consequences of failing in our society

10. Fear of not getting a job

11. Fear of being too old to succeed

12. Fear of no result

13. Pain, problems, difficulties and sufferings

14. What it takes to face failure

15. When all else fails

16. What would you do if you can't fail?

I must say here that the author is a real inspiration. I really marvel at his super salesmanship - this is another good area all readers can learn from him. Judging from the photographs in the book, he certainly knew how to rub shoulders with top political leaders in the ASEAN region to add to his credibility & visibility.

Frankly, this book is now a marketing tool for the author's whole series of seminars, workshops as well as related business projects.

He certainly deserves it.

I only hope that his new editions are of better quality than the particular one I had bought/owned during the nineties.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be brave, April 9, 2008
This review is from: Dare to Fail (Paperback)
This is a great book, with a lot of story inside it.
This book teaches you not to see every failure as a bad thing.
This book has both dramatic and humorous side which makes you not getting bored with it's content.
The language is pretty strandard english, since the author is coming from Malaysia.
And for Indonesian reader, this book also offer an Indonesian version, which I've no idea how to find it in USA..
Overall this is a worth reading book for entrepreneur and all major...
