5.0 out of 5 stars A really great recording; well selected repertoire., March 22, 1999
By A Customer
"The Virtuoso Tuba" is a superb recording. Lind is a living legend in the tuba world and he shows us all why with this performance. I reccomend this recording to anyone, especially those who think that the tuba is nothing more than an "um-pah" instrument; it will shatter just about every stereotype you have for the tuba. This disc is a great model for both aspiring tubists and already established ones. As a tubist myself, this recording gives me a great model to compare myself with as well as giving me new things to add to my repertoire. The Vaughn Williams Concerto is played particularly artfully by Mr. Lind, he really gives it a sense of "jovialness."

I believe that the Micheal Lind recording, when digitally remastered, is probably one of the best examples of Tuba playing in the world. If you happen upon this recording, don;t hesitate to purchase it, it is well worth you money!

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding, May 21, 1999
By A Customer
This recording was the first Tuba-record I heard. My father presented it to me 20 years ago and it was allways a model to my own playing. It gave to me the idea that the Tuba is just a "normal" instrument and not ,as mostly heard,a kind of a noise-maker, which better should not be heard. Today,as a professional Tubaplayer in the Symphony-Orchestra of the Austrian Broadcasting Company in Vienna,I'm still keeping in mind Mr.Lind's outstanding performance as documented on this CD. This recording is one of the best ever made.
