Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Virtually an institution after a decade on the scene, Boston's finest ska band continues to deliver an extreme adrenaline rush on its fifth album, which was produced by Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade. The metal edge in the Bosstone's particular brand of skacore comes further to the forefront this time, while songs such as "Noise Brigade" and "Royal Oil" rank among the catchiest they've recorded. And Nate Albert continues to carve out a new role for the guitar in ska-influenced music. Jim Derogatis

4.0 out of 5 stars Clever lyrics are the key., February 19, 2001
I don't know if this is a typical CD from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (my first one) but the quality of the lyrics made me want to check out others. The Ska beat is partnered with some clever commentary on race relations ("Let's Face It") and violence in our daily lives ("Nevermind Me" Numbered Days")They appear to be a band willing to try to say something while not forgetting to entertain. A rare combination in today's music.

4.0 out of 5 stars A happy island in a sea of grunge, October 19, 2005

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
I own very little ska, and this is the only Mighty Mighty Bosstones album I've ever bought, but I frequently find myself in the mood to hear this.
This is feel-good, be-happy, get-up-and-dance music. The lyrics are socially relevant and clever, the guitar and drums are good, and the horns are terrific. I challenge anyone to listen to "Noise Brigade," "The Rascal King," or "The Impression That I Get" and not jump out of their seat and dance.
My daughter's only three months old, but this is already her favorite CD--she gets happy and laughs whenever it comes on.

5.0 out of 5 stars When ska meets swing, and trust me folks the results are won, January 3, 2002
By Rex Marksmanson "HEYO!" (Long Island, New York) - See all my reviews
An amazing sound from an amazing band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, "Lets face it" was one of the most impressive albums to be released in the year of 1997. Most people know these guys from their hit single "The Impression That I Get"(amazing song), but there are so many more great songs you will discover if you give this album a listen. Songs such as "Noise Brigade", "Royal Oil", "Lets face it", "Another Drinkin' Song" & "Numbered days" will bring a smile to the average ska fans face. Just a great album overall, it deserves every one of those five stars I've given it.
