5.0 out of 5 stars A realm of erotic anguish, November 4, 1999
By "ellysian" (Colorado) - See all my reviews
Take gaelic chants infused with the sound track of a medieval village, stir in some techno and a little industrial and just a smidgen of "eye of new wave" and you have brewed up what is The Land of Harm and Apple Trees. The female vocals are haunting. The male vocals, though not as prolific throughout the album, intrude into a song like a dark spectre creeping into your thoughts. This is music for an overcast autumn day and it will definately transform you to another place in time and space. And it won't be the ethereal, sun dappled planes of Enya or Yanni. Oh no, my friend, you will find yourselves in someplace stark and haunting, at twilight. Some place you find foreboding, but instantly intriguing and devilishly seductive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unlike anything else..., September 28, 2001

I've been a fan of dark, ambient soundscapes for quite a while and have listened to many different artists. But I've never heard anything quite like Aurora. Take the dark sounds of a group like Midnight Syndicate, add a little Enigma, and just a touch of dance beats and you have Aurora. Definitely something that has to be heard!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, Earthy, and Whispery, March 24, 1999
By A Customer
When I first heard about Aurora, I was captivated by the "Land of Harm and Appletrees." The land showed me dark, earthy, and whispery sounds combined with a voice that is sure to grab the heart of anyone. The song, "In a minute" has some really cool percussion and "Ritual" has a seashore bell that is ringing and it makes the entire song beautiful. Even the sound of wind and the drones is wonderful. I could go on and on about how this CD is so wonderful, but I am limited in how long it can be. Just pick it up today, and you'll see what the "Land of Harm and Appletrees" is like.
