I'm very surprised to be the first person reviewing this album. It truly is quite a gem. Any casual fan of this type of music, like myself, should really get a lot out of this cd. There are some wonderful little treasures packed into this 18 song beauty. The song Tighten Up by Archie Bell & The Drells is one of the best songs from the 60s, seriously. The cd is worth it for that song alone. There are plenty of other good tunes here as well. Classics such as James Brown's "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag," The Capitols' "Cool Jerk," and The Isley Brother's "It's Your Thing" will really bring back great memories and remind the listener just how good this music was, and really, still is. In addition to the classics, there's a few marvelous little treasures thrown in the mix. The aforementioned "Tighten Up" by Archie Bell is just spectacular, and "Soul Finger" by the Bar-Kays and "Try A Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding are wonderful as well. This disc is quite the diamond in the rough. It's a great compilation for any Soul/R&B music fan.
