4.0 out of 5 stars Classic!, March 8, 1999
By A Customer
This album is a must have for anyone. Marky Mark at his BEST! Classic grooves like GOOD VIBRATIONS (Comeon comeon! Feel it feel IT!) was a favorite of everybody at one time and still a great dance tune, but the real magic shines through with the urban story-telling on WILDSIDE. Wildside takes you through the lives of several people who witness death, suicide and other unpleasent endings because they choose to walk on the wildside. Such crafty lyrics as "wanted to be a chemical engineer, makin fifty to fifty five thousand a year" never end!!! Other songs like I NEED MONEY and BOUT TIME I FUNKED YOU round out this excellent collection on Marky's first disc. The rapping on this album is so bad and Marky Mark is so tight that you have to ask yourself why "Dirk Diggler" ever stepped out of the music scene. I for one think he should reconsider.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for your classic collection, July 2, 2005
This album is a must have. I love all the songs in the album and it's a non stop listening for me. Once again thanks to all the people who work and dedicated their time to producing this album. d=]

3.0 out of 5 stars A product of the times...., December 27, 2007
By Randy Kelly (Richmond, Va) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When this first came out in the early 90's, I was not impressed. Coming from a background where I listened to people like Rakim, KRS-One and Chuck D, this was not up my alley. However, in retrospect, this is a well put together album. Sample heavy of course, using all of the sample cliches from this time period, it is "made for the stations". Truly a well put together album, although the lyrics are not that great. But in terms of being a Club MTV style dance record, it defintely hit its mark. I truly beleive that Mark loved real hip hop, but having Donny as a producer influenced the dance style of the record. Overall, a really high quality effort and Mark, don't be ashamed of your past... we call that a sellout.

A lot of people couldn't stand him rapping, and I won't say that he's the best rapper ever, but Mark Wahlberg did have a couple of pumping good jams here. Read more
