5.0 out of 5 stars Wheels Are Back On Track!, June 16, 2007
After their sappy pop junk effort in 1982, the band leader Kevin Cronin must have been depressed though the album made so-so success. But 1984 album turned out to be dramatic and solid one. Kevin participated Survivor's Caught In The Game album giving chorus part such as It Doesn't Have To Be This Way. Jim Peterik of Survivor is somewhat like master to Kevin. Survivor's 1983 album didn't become a hit but might have given troubled rock band leader new vigor.

Opening track I DO' WANNA KNOW is blasting and strong and yet catchy rock anthem proving that their rock spirit is still alive. ONE LONELY NIGHT is in contrast a ballad but guitar solo is still solid just like the ones in HI INFIDELITY. LIVE EVERY MOMENT is catchy and fun yet solid pop song. And one of my top favorite REO songs to date. ROCK'N ROLL STAR is another gem track. Then comes CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING somewhat KEEP ON LOVING and TAKE IT ON THE RUN combined and REO's signature ballad hit. WHEELS ARE TURNING makes me feel like being in their rock concert, brilliant ending.

Verdict: REO's dramatic return to form.
Rating: 93 out of 100
Recommended for: REO Speedwagon, Journey, and Survivor fans and wide range of 80s pop rock fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic rock epitomized, November 21, 2002
By A Customer
Great songs. A great collection of hits. Two non-hits here also are absolute classics: "Through the Window" and "Rock 'N' Roll Star" (incredible solo/guitar work). The background vocals are so rich and smooth...nobody has ever done it better. Overall, a great rock band on top of their game.

They don't make music like this anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars REO at it's best, November 29, 2003
By Sal April (Wilmington, Delaware) - See all my reviews
I really think "Wheels Are Turnin" IS REO at it's best. Having worked at a pop radio station as music director and DJ in the '80's when this was released, I remember actually starting "Can't Fight This Feeling" on our station THE DAY we received it. Others in the area followed suit. My favorite on the album by far is "I Do Wanna Know" which was the FIRST single released. I too loved the video to this one. All in all this collection shows REO as rockers, pop giants and balladeers all in one. Gary Richrath has got to be one of the most UNDERRATED guitarists ever. Even if you're a part-time fan of REO, you'll love this one. By the way, my love of REO goes gack to 1976 when I saw them open for BTO, (which I call the "alphabet tour".)
