5.0 out of 5 stars Just keeps getting better and better!, October 30, 2000
By "fantasy77" (Kirkland, WA United States) - See all my reviews
After buying "Youthquake," "Rip It Up" and then "Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know, I decided to go all the way and pick this one up. I bought it completely blind and I was amazed at how often I find it in my CD player. In my opinion, poor marketing as this group's downfall; this was their best album yet...even warranting a delightful remix version in Japan. A great album after leaving the production team of SAW.

"Turn Around and Count 2 Ten" is worth buying the CD for alone. Dance-y, fun, and fabulous. "Come Home With Me Baby" is the most amazing and hilarious track...lyrics like "...Oooh, you're just so lucky, no I don't do this for anyone...I was looking for somebody and you've got the body I want" make DOA a standout band in my book. Other great tracks include "I Don't Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," "Get Out Of My House," and "Give It Back That Love Is Mine." This is one of a handful of albums that I can play straight thru without skipping any tracks; Pete Burns' Gothic diva vibratto and inventive lyrics keep me interested at all times.

Pick it up before it goes out-of-print!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pete keeps the energy pumping, November 4, 2001
By A Customer
This largely self produced album, saw the departure of Dead or Alive from their commercial success with SAW. The sound may have not evolved terribly much from their establised high energy formula, but the Japanese found something in this album different to the rest of the world. While the album failed to make the top 50 in most countries around the world, the album was number 1 in Japan.

The singles, Turn Around and Count 2 10, Come Home With Me Baby, and Baby Don't Say Goodbye, all very strong high energy tracks - were largely ignored at the time (due maybe to changing musical tastes in the late 80's) and are still very underrated. Turn Around in particular, would have to be the fastest song they have ever done and my favourite all time Dead or Alive song because of it. All three singles were remixed as single releases , so you dont get the best versions here, but close enough to get an idea why all three tracks went number 1 in Japan and why Come Home went to number 1 on the US dance charts in 1989.

The other standout tracks include I Dont Wanna Be Your Boyfriend and My Forbidden Lover. What a shame for the dance/pop music world that this was the last album release for Dead or Alive in the UK. Dead or Alive had so much potential to be so far greater a musical force than what they actually achieved. This album goes on record to prove that they could do it on their own without SAW and do it well, VERY WELL!!

5.0 out of 5 stars US missed a great album., July 26, 2002
By Christopher S. Hart "Devils Trance" (Bloomington, IL United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Overall, this is my favorite Dead or Alive album. There isn't a bad song on it and it has several catchy tunes that you find yourself singing and/or dancing to. I wore this tape out when it was first released, and over the years I have pulled it out and listened to it for weeks at a time. It's time to wipe off the dust and pull "Nude" out once again.

I just don't understand how this album didn't do better in America with such incredible songs as "Come Home With Me Baby", "My Forbidden Lover", "Turn Around and Count 2 Ten", "Baby Don't Say Goodbye" & "I Cannot Carry On". Goes to show how we Americans always overlook something extremely good that is right in front of us in our never ending search for something newer (and what we think is better).

Another thing that makes this album so remarkable is the fact the each song flows into the next and perfectly accompanies the previous one. Side one is flawless in doing this and so are the last two tracks on side two. I don't think most people really realize how well produced "Nude" really was/is. Brilliant!
