Biography

Heralded among the pioneers of trance, the Frankfurt, Germany-based duo of producer Jam El Mar and Mark Spoon (aka Markus Loeffel) made an enormous impact in 1992 with their groundbreaking remix of the self-titled single by Age of Love. After the first Jam and Spoon EP, Tales from a Danceographic Ocean -- which contained their influential hit "Stella" -- the duo unleashed a barrage of remixed… Read more in Amazon's Jam & Spoon Store

5.0 out of 5 stars A Benchmark, March 21, 2004
By Kenneth A. Haynes (Dallas, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
There are 2 significant releases from the '90's that reshaped the future "face" of club/dance music: "Tripomatic Fairytales 2001" from Jam & Spoon and "Accelerator" by Future Sound of London. Both undeniably brilliant in how they pioneered what was to become "trance," "progressive trance," "art-house trance," et al. "Tripomatic" is an all-inclusive work of art that only trained seekers of electronica will seek and enjoy. This is the Mona Lisa of what was to come. Experience this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ambient-techno!, October 19, 2000
By U. Beste (UPPSALA Sweden) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Jam&Spoon delivers an album with ambient techno. The strenght lies in the female voice, the texts and the bass drum. They investigate the musical dream-landscape with new unexected sounds and the whole album is a mix between heavy, well placed bass and easy, "sing-a-long"-text. Reminds me of Enigma, Deep Forest, Drum Club, Way out West and similar.

Buy this album - and give it time! You should listen to it in your head phones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Original Trance Dance Masters!, October 18, 2000
By Mrs. Ana R Santos (London, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
Tripnomatic Fairytales 2001 is in my opinion their best work. It is the most dancable of their three major albums. Considered by many to be the fathers of Trance type dance music of Frankfurt, Germany. This CD is their proof. Well known for their remixes of other artists such as Moby, Enigma, and Deep Forest. A lot of the music here is driven by a beat that rarely if never stops, topped off with harmonies and musical effects that are almost irresitable. Since this is straight Trance dance the music is very repetitive which may not be everyone's cup of tea. The interesting part of the music is that even though it is repetitive, it is progressive. The tune and music slowly changes and metamorphs into something wonderful as one by one more instruments are added in, the harmonies change, voices are added in, etc. This is the CD that contains the song "Stella" which was a smash hit in dance clubs all over when it was first released. So much so that there is now many remixes of this song as well. Very worth listening to. If you are a big fan of dance music in general, this is a treasure.
