Absolutely Fabulous, December 5, 2003
The Great Subconscious Club surprised me a lot. I expected darker, more upbeat songs such as those on Paradise In Me. Instead I found a great CD that is perfect for any occasion, be it studying for finals or background music at a party. Here's a quick lowdown of some of the songs.Me Happy- A faster, fun song. Love the lyrics. It's all about what you want to say but can't because you have tact. Wonderful. Breakfast- A slower song about innocence and surprise. I Wanna Meet the Man- This was my least favourite song on the CD. Some parts were reminiscent of country, which I tend to avoid at all costs. This is the one song on the album I skip. What the Hell is Love?- A sad song about the little part of us that is nurturing, caring, but always very alone. This song almost makes me cry, it's beautiful but insightful. I smoke a Lot- This is definately my favourite song on this album. Even though I don't smoke, I totally got it. It's mellow but you can still dance to it. It has a strolling beat in the back which makes it pleasant to listen to, and keeps your feet tapping away. The Ballad of Lea and Paul- This was an interesting song about appearances and perception. It is upbeat and fun, without being overly happy. I love the duet parts with Sarah and Gert(?) it brings another aspect into the music I don't recall hearing before. This is definately worth your money, and it has a place of honour on my CD rack. Space out.
