Biography

Hailing from Belgium, K's Choice initially started off as a duo with brother and sister Gert and Sarah Bettens. Both grew up playing music and eventually lead the band the Basement Pigs during their teens. While they fooled around with pop cover songs, Sarah eventually took off on a solo career. Her cover of Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" was released in 1992 and was mild hit. A year… Read more in Amazon's K's Choice Store

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best never-heard-of albums ever, June 17, 1999
By Jeff (jorcutt1@nycap.rr.com) (Saratoga Springs, New York) - See all my reviews
I bought this album after I bought Paradise in Me, and I thought it would be a typical not-as-good freshman album. Boy, was I wrong! This album has a completely different sound than the second, and it's wonderfull! It goes from whymsical to heart-wrenching between a few tracks. Songs like 'Me Happy', 'Breakfast', and 'I Smoke a Lot' set the lighthearted atmosphere, but then songs like 'My Heart' throw you. 'My Heart' is one of my personal favorite songs ever. It's one of the few songs ever that provoke and emotional response from me, and when I play it on the guitar, and my friend sings, it's almost a religious experiance. Take my word for it, buy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous, December 5, 2003
The Great Subconscious Club surprised me a lot. I expected darker, more upbeat songs such as those on Paradise In Me. Instead I found a great CD that is perfect for any occasion, be it studying for finals or background music at a party. Here's a quick lowdown of some of the songs.

Me Happy- A faster, fun song. Love the lyrics. It's all about what you want to say but can't because you have tact. Wonderful.

Breakfast- A slower song about innocence and surprise.

I Wanna Meet the Man- This was my least favourite song on the CD. Some parts were reminiscent of country, which I tend to avoid at all costs. This is the one song on the album I skip.

What the Hell is Love?- A sad song about the little part of us that is nurturing, caring, but always very alone. This song almost makes me cry, it's beautiful but insightful.

I smoke a Lot- This is definately my favourite song on this album. Even though I don't smoke, I totally got it. It's mellow but you can still dance to it. It has a strolling beat in the back which makes it pleasant to listen to, and keeps your feet tapping away.

The Ballad of Lea and Paul- This was an interesting song about appearances and perception. It is upbeat and fun, without being overly happy. I love the duet parts with Sarah and Gert(?) it brings another aspect into the music I don't recall hearing before.

This is definately worth your money, and it has a place of honour on my CD rack. Space out.
