5.0 out of 5 stars His voice with this music and lyrics is simply sublime., July 26, 1999
By A Customer
I was cleaning the house with CMT playing in the backround, not really paying attention to what videos were on. I heard that ache-inducing music and then the smooth, deep, buttery voice of Wade Hayes. I said to myself-Oh my God what IS this song?! (I had never heard Glen Campbell's rendition). I sat down on the sofa and gazed at the TV screen. The analogy of Wade traveling from show to show and his lonely ache for the one he loves, to the lineman and his lonliness was meaningful. The way the video was produced really set the mood perfectly-I felt like crying. I had to have this song so I could play it so many times that I was sick of it. I waited for the CD to be released. And waited. I called a local country music station and asked them to play it-they didn't have it and weren't getting it. The DJ wasn't very clear as to why. I was frustrated--how could this masterpiece be kept such a secret?!--Wade should recieve MUCH recognition for his version of this solemn song. In the grand scheme of things it was written for him to sing. And he certainly knows how to protray a feeling-in his singing and acting. But his song has disappeared into thin air. Can anyone tell me why???

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!, January 2, 1999

Wade's version of "Wichita Lineman" beats every version ever made. His deep voice conveys such emotion that the listener is left weak in the knees. I loved it the first time I heard it and went out and bought it! Keep singing Wade!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bittersweet Perfection, February 10, 2009
One of my top 5 favorite songs ever penned sung by one of my top 5 favorite country recording artists - how does it get any better than that? I bought the CD without having heard it first - it is worth every penny. I thought it would end up being my favorite version - and it's second only to the original songwriter's version - Jimmy Webb. Does anyone know how to find out who the other musicians are on Wade's version? I also think I hear someone singing harmony with him toward the end of the song. I've searched around on the web and can't find anything -also, Sony Nashville's web site does not make it easy to contact them. I would recommend snatching this CD up if you ever run across it...
