Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Packed with quality adult fare, this soundtrack includes Sting's lilting, near-perfect remake of "The Bed's Too Big Without You" with Ranking Roger, Al Green's "Give It Everything" (elegantly jazzed for the '90s by Steele & Cox of Fine Young Cannibals fame), and romantic croons from Aaron Neville, Jill Sobule, Paul Weller, and Dionne Farris (covering Stevie Wonder's "For Once In My Life"). Suzanne Vega's "Caramel," a wispy, Parisian affaire, is the single. --Jeff Bateman

3.0 out of 5 stars pure contemporary relaxation stuff, August 14, 2000
By T. Monte (Adelaide, Australia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this album after hearing the smooth voice of Susanne Vega with "caramel" on the movie - it stuck in my brain and I had to get a copy. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that there was more than one track on this album well worth a listen. Now that I've heard the album, there are several tracks I would have bought separately. The bouncy liveliness of Blues Traveller is the kind of song I look forward to listening to on the way to work to put me in a good mood. The Cowboy Junkies' "Angel Mine" almost brings me to tears - that song is gorgeous. Of course, Squeeze have brought out another gem (to match the great "tempted") and the Al Green song is so cute!! I would recommend this album to anyone who is up for something a little less teeny-pop and a lot more smooth and mature.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best soundtracks!, February 24, 1999
I loved the movie, mostly because of the music. This is one of my favorite CDs in my collection. It will make you smile when you remember where the song was playing in the movie. Ranging form the Cowboy Junkies to Ben Folds Five, this is a must-have for anyone's CD collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality pop music!, April 23, 1999
Although at first listen, you may think this is just another bland commercial pop album but with closer inspection, you unearth some of pop's best gems in the album. From Sting's "The Bed's too Big Without Me" to the haunting "Angel Mine" by Cowboy Junkies, the songs tend to stick. Favorites include Squeeze and Paul Weller. A must buy for any pop enthusiast!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the chick flick fool you, this is good!
Great sound track, nice mix of tunes, some more dance-like and some slow ones, but this is no sleepless in seattle soundtrack, it's definitely worth it!
