Sting discusses his new album "If On a Winter's Night"

Biography

Composer, singer, actor, activist - Sting has won universal acclaim in all these roles, but he defies easy labeling. He's best described as an adventurer, a risk-taker. As he himself said, "I love to put myself in new situations. I'm not afraid to be a beginner." Husband and father of

six, masterful guitarist and bassist, and also a devoted Yoga practitioner, he's made a career, in fact, of new… Read more in Amazon's Sting Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Sting at his ballad best, February 22, 2008
By A2R DJ Dan (Hazlet, NJ) - See all my reviews
To completely clarify this song is the first track and one of two original songs off "Fields of Gold" (Best of Sting) and is most certainly Sting's ultimate "love song." This would be appropriate as many couple's first dance at their wedding and I made sure that it was included on a tape that played during the dinner hour of our reception. I wanted my wife to hear the beautiful line "I will love you more than life, if you'll only be my wife" When you can write and sing lyrics like that you score big points with the women. The other tracks are 2 versions of Sting's first solo hit "If you love somebody (set them free)" which is almost always refered to as the answer follow-up/opposite to "Every breath you take." The final track is a hard to find yet good song taken from the movie of the same name "Demolition Man." Overall a quality collection for reasonable price if your collection needs "When we dance."

5.0 out of 5 stars RE: A Voice for the Voiceless, Nice write-up, wrong song, April 14, 2000
By A Customer
The song that speaks of Pinochet and his crimes is NOT "When we dance," but rather "They Dance Alone (Gueca Solo)," which appears on Sting's 1987 release "Nothing Like the Sun."

5.0 out of 5 stars The Voice of the Voiceless
It is a tragedy that crimes against humanity go unnoticed this late in the 20th century, but they do. Unnoticed until sometime refuses to turn a blind eye. Read more
