Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Feeder's full-length debut album didn't set the charts alight in 1997, but it did make an impression on the angst-ridden-teen market. Polythene is a successful fusion of metal and indie rock, but what really sets it apart is its underlying melodicism. Like Therapy? and Smashing Pumpkins before them, this trio has a good idea about what makes great pop music. Tracks such as "Polythene Girl," "My Perfect Day," and "Tangerine" have enough heavy guitars to please the teenage fan base, yet are still bright and catchy enough to please pop fans. Meanwhile, it's a testament to the inherent unjustness of the universe that the album's highlight, "High," didn't take up residency at the top of the charts. --Robert Burrow

5.0 out of 5 stars Who are these guys? Who cares? The album is great anyway!, October 31, 1999
By A Customer
I bought the CD for 1.99 because my brother said he had heard their release, Cement, a few times and they sounded alright. I bought it and listened to it, and was amazed. A band I had never heard of played a variety of great pure rock songs(Tangerine, Cement, Radiation, Forgive) and some great soft rock songs(Suffocate, High) blended to gether in the form of an album that has stayed among my favorites ever since I bought it. The Feeder boys deserve more fans than they probably have now, but if they keep making albums like this, they should get more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feeder Certainly Rock !, February 29, 2000
By Lippi Salt (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I actually bought this after the first album, "Yesterday Went To soon" due to liking it so much. If you like alternative rock indie your love this, the songs vary from a mixture of depressing but lively tunes( if you get what i mean) to a happy rock ballard which are really catchy. My Perfect Day just sticks in your mind and just keeps going around until you have to play another tune to get it out of your head.! High lyrics just take you places you have never expected with yet another catchy tune. A real recommended buy, if you like easy listening alternative rock which you sing too I would say better than there second album.!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is amazing, May 27, 1999
Feeder are one best bands i have heard in a long time. There mix of soft rock and punk creates an absoloutely brilliant album from start to finish."High" is obsiously the best song on "Polythene" but all the other songs after a few times of listening to them become as catchy as"High".I advise you to buy this album as soon as you get any money.
