4.0 out of 5 stars Do you want Hardcore!!, July 5, 2003
By chrd3 (Da Bany) - See all my reviews
Sex, Violence, drugs, violence, hopefulness & uplifting, & did i mention violence? All of these are included in Ice-T's 3rd album "The Iceburg/Freedom of Speech". This was an album dropped when Ice and others were fighting for the right to say what they want to say on wax(2 Live, NWA, others) & the PMRC was hot on the tails of anyone who dared to do so. First off, this is not an album for the faint at heart. But if your okay with that this is actually a pretty tight album. The into is crazy as h--- for real. It then goes into a barrage of heat(Iceburg, Lethal Weapon, Black-N-Decker, Title track, Word is Bond)) all the way up to the end. In all honestly there really isn't a bad track on this disc..well maybe the party track was too much for me(even though I was dancing to this sh-t back in the days). It is truly one of Ice's best disc(probably a cool 3rd all in all, OG being the best & Power being the 2nd best). He was political, pimpish, & gangsta as a muthaf---a on this one. Well worth at least a listen if not a cop(buying for you new school wankstas!!) You decide..but don't let ya moms hear it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ice T's most thought provoking effort, July 19, 2001
Quite possibly Ice T's best effort ever. This CD deals more with censorship and other issues that have been the bane of many artists of late. The opening track with Jello Biaffra (Dead Kennedy's frontman) is a frightning look into the future of a country that has been placed under marshall law and must now obey the governments every order without question. Most of the songs here are of a much darker nature. Freedom of Speech.. Just watch what you say is an obvious lashout at the groups that feel freedom of speech should be regulated and meet the approval of desiganted groups (I.E. PMRC). Many artists have had problems with said groups due to what was felt to be offensive material, just ask Megadeth. Peel their caps back deals with gangwar and retribution. Many of the topics held within are not nice and pretty but they are topics of real life. The death and destruction is something that not everyone can relate to, I for one have not witnessed first hand many of the gang related happenings. They are real life for many people though The rhymes and beats are super tight. Notable tracks are Peel Their Caps Back, My Word is Bond and the title track. Give this one a listen. Well worth picking up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great old-school album, April 14, 2001
This album may not be a "classic" 5-star album, but it brings back memories with every listen, and that alone is worthy of the 5-star rating.
Every track is great, but the stand-out is the party track (track 11 I believe). I, personally, still remember kickin back on the porch and bumpin that track way back in the day.
Even the skit on the album is worth more than one listen.
If you love old-school hip-hop and dont have this album in your collection, buy it now.
