5.0 out of 5 stars hi fi way, February 20, 2005
By sara (sydney, australia) - See all my reviews
This was the album that made me love music. I remember buying this album when I was in highschool and then listening to it over and over again. Every song is a classic but standouts are purple sneakers and jewel and bullets. I have so many excellent memories of standing in all ages shows yelling along to all these songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE INSTANT CLASSIC, March 12, 2003
By dale gunderman (Petaluma, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I got this record when it came out way back when........
The sound is FAT and the tunes are simply cool.
This marked the begining of something quite livid for me.
The sound is fantastic. You Am I had the difficult second album syndrome beat to the bush. I recomend buying all You Am I records and listening to them in order of release to follow the matrurity of the songmanship. But it all starts with this one for me. "Sound as ever" was neat but this one is where the line up gels and starts to feel comfortable about playing together and enjoying it. blah blah......just buy it and tell me if you don't fall for every sweet hook and slash.
Instant classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the breatest bands ever, January 24, 2004
By "slackboy" (Canberra - Australia) - See all my reviews
Tim Rogers is one of the best songwriters you will find today. This album marks where the lyrics and the music come together for the first time. Purple Sneakers also happens to be one of the greatest laments you will ever hear. Watching them play this song live is an experience. Grown men cry. Women swoon. If you can, track down the singles as the rare B-Side Hi-Way-Fi is a killer of a track that never made it to this album.
