5.0 out of 5 stars The CD rules because it really went along with the movie., July 17, 1998
By A Customer
The Trees Lounge soundtack is the best because it described the way that Tommy (Steve Buscemi) felt about his life and the people in it (plus it had really good pictures of Steve Buscemi, not that I like the guy or anything) and it went along with the story of the movie. The songs really sounded like the way that the characters were feeling during the film. Like when Billy was sittin' at the bar just staring off into the camera with a dazed look on his face the lyrics said something about not havng a dream, which looked like what he was thinking, and when Tommy was dancing with Crystal (a girl he just met at the bar, played by Debi Mazar,) the song said something about not really being in love, but feeling at that moment that he was. And I would just like to add that Steve Buscemi was a great actor in that movie and the other 40+ that he has been in. But this gave him his film debut and showed tha world that he really is a good actor (not to mention he showed off his re! ! ally great looks to everyone.) you really should buy this CD and the movie because they are great things together and apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Booze and blues..., January 25, 2006
By B. Bowman "Double B" (Jersey, United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This soundtrack is such a good collection of music that I would recommend it to those that haven't seen the movie "Trees Lounge". However, if you saw the movie and enjoyed it then this soundtrack is one you should definitely have. The songs on this disc are really well chosen and really capture the mood of the movie. As stated by other reviewers, the movie deals with an alcoholic named Tommy (played by Steve Buscemi) who has lost his job and lost his girl to his ex-boss. He ends up spending most of his time in the local bar, the "Trees Lounge" and drinking with two of the locals, whose lives become the center of the movie along with Tommy's. The soundtrack contains much of the music that plays from the bar's jukebox, and is as well put together as the movie was. I initially bought the soundtrack after hearing the Ink Spots version of "I Understand (Just How You Feel") which plays at the beginning and the end of the movie. I had never heard of the Ink Spots before, and the incredible vocal performance of this song really captivated me. I also like the song "Trees Lounge" performed by Hayden; the lyrics could have been plucked right out of Tommy's head. The acoustic guitar on "Tommy Blues" is sprinkled throughout several scenes in the movie, particularly those in which Tommy walks the streets in search of a job. Another song which was written specifically for the soundtrack is "Color Of Your Eyes", which utilizes several lines of dialogue from the script and focuses on a particular scene from the movie where Tommy tries to pick a girl up. I was impressed with the creative way in which the lyrics were written, and the eerie melody managed to capture the feeling of the darkened bar and two lost drunken souls clinging to each other near closing time. I also loved that Buscemi chose to use the Korea/Career exchange on the soundtrack. (If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about!) If you liked Trees Lounge the movie and have a fifth that you need to polish off, this is the soundtrack to have in the player.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Genius From The Guy In The Woodchipper!!, August 20, 2005
Wow. Who knew Steve Buscemi had this much talent, and a heart? Lovely, brilliant movie, translates into a lovely, brilliant CD. If you haven't watched the movie yet, do so first. Full of great, pitch-perfect gags, and a true ending, the movie is worth anything you've got. That last scene will leave you feeling truly empty and with a hint of quiet doom...like real alcoholics. By the way, great boozy soundtrack, which manages to avoid the problem with most indie soundtracks, the needing to fit every style of music in. Higly recommended.
