PUT THE CRYSTAL AWAY BEFORE PLAYING THIS CD!, December 22, 2000
When it comes to R&B divas, there is only one Patti Labelle. And there is only one question that comes to my mind when listening to her on this new Greatest Hits CD, is it live or is it Memorex? This diva has one of the greatest voices in the biz and has to been in any fan's collection. Why? Well, because it not only covers her recent MCA years but also goes backwards to her Bluebelles days, Labelle and her early post Labelle solo days. This CD should be played from track one to the last to hear the evolution of this great singer. "Over The Rainbow" from Patti Labelle & The Bluebelles '65 Atlantic LP is stunning! Next up we got 4 Labelle heavy hitting singles "Lady Marmalade," "What Can I Do For You," the funky cover of Cat Steven's classic Moon Shadow" & "Going On A Holiday". 2 singles from her Philly International Records period "If You Only Knew" & "Love, Need And Want You" lead up to 9 tunes from her recent MCA years where Ms. Labelle proved that she was still at the top of her game. "If You Asked Me To,""New Attitude," & "Stir It Up" are for me the cream of her crop. Superb liner notes on her career & pix complete this CD package. One thing, when playing this CD as with any Patti titles make sure you put the crystal away and your windows are shatter proof! If anybody can shatter the surroundings, it's Patti!

Where Have I Been All These Years?, May 20, 2002
For many years, I resisted Patti LaBelle. While others have revered her as a flawless diva, I held my distance, perceiving her as a theatrical singer with an excessively loud voice. But, one day, I saw the light and recognized the talent that is Patti, and bought this CD. It's like, WOW! This CD is great! The emotion and heart that she puts into these songs is incredible. The touching ballad "Somebody Loves You" will move you to tears, while "New Attitude," despite its dated production, still sounds fresh. Her version of "If You Asked Me to" also outclasses the version Celine Dion would later butcher. Moreover, there's also "Lady Marmelade," the Labelle classic which Christina, Kim, Pink, and Mya would later destroy on the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack. I am now kicking myself for not liking Patti sooner. She is truly a talented diva who deserves her praise, and I strongly recommend this disc!

Patti At Her Best, December 19, 2002
You know the girl can blow there is no doubting that. This CD gathers together some of her greatest hits. My problem with greatest hits CDs is that some of the better material of the artist is left off and what seems like filler is put in. Although most of these songs are my favorites some just seemed to be filler. But no matter what this child sings you know its all that and a bag of chips.
