3.0 out of 5 stars Moonlighting- What was missing, July 5, 2000
By Chris (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
The music selections included are all 5 stars, especially "Blue Moon" and "I told Ya I love ya, know get out," however my problem isn't with what was included but rather whats missing from thgis soundtrack. The whole album, on a little over 30 minutes in length, has lots of room left for some major music from Monnlighting that's missing. First and foremostwhere is the original version of the theme song. The original version of the Moonlighting theme features in the 1985 to 1987 seasons is jazzy and fun, not that the pop version is any less, but there is no reason why it shouldn't have been included. Second, where are songs like the Ronette's "Be My LItle Baby" from "I Am Curios Maddie" when Maddie and David finally quench their passion. How about Billie Joel's "Big Man On Mulburrey Street" from the episode of the same name? Also, what also detracts from the album is the lack of any off the shows beatiful music, or the haunting piano selctions used for the "dramatic" moments. That music played such a major role that the soudtrack seems vacant without it. I think that maybe the shows producer, (and albums) Glen Gordon Caron rushed this album out to cash in when Moonlightinh was at its hottest. All in all a good album, but there should be alot more to it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly Christopher!, March 26, 2001
By A Customer
Christopher has summed up my major compaint with this CD. While the "Moonlighting Theme" makes it worth buying alone, I would give anything to have the instrumental music that accompanied David and Maddie's angsty moments (it was played a lot in season three). I was also surprised that "Be My Baby" was not included, since Moonlighting fans probably most associate that song with that famous Moonlighting scene. I will give it fours stars, however, because it does have some good ones like "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Stormy Weather." It is a little disappointing though because it could have been better (but hey, so could Moonlighting's fourth and fifth seasons).

4.0 out of 5 stars More tracks would make it better, September 16, 2004
By archie "@rchie" (Genoa,Italy) - See all my reviews
I still own the original vinyl lp of this soundtrack, I bought it in 1989 and still enjoy listening to it whenever i feel like relaxing to some good music. It features several highlights such as a rare Bruce track his fans cant find anywhere else and two lovely ones from Cybill. Its a pity, however, the compilers didn't include more songs from the show. I remember I did myself my own Moonlighting special edition on tape, way back then. I added some missing tracks I already owned somewhere (Nasty, West End Girls, Man on M.Street, All The Way) which did feature on a few crucial episodes but had been taken off the final compilation and I used to listen to it on my walkman whilst on holiday. Lets hope they release a fleshier remastered edition of this album, in the meantime buy it just the way it is. You won't get disappointed!

The soundtrack is not so bad either. Al Jarreau nailed the theme song! The soundtrack, like the show, makes you smile, laugh, and feel good all over.
