Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
If you recall how Rickie Lee Jones blew in like a gust of fresh air in '79, you'll understand the potential in this New York duo for a new generation of listeners. Rebecca Martin is a ringer for Jones on the effervescent "Save Me," and guitarist Jesse Harris injects an acoustic folk swing into stellar tracks like "Geraldine," "Trumansburg," and "I Haven't Been Me." Simple, fresh, and invigorating. --Jeff Bateman

4.0 out of 5 stars Still on my CD player after all these years, May 29, 2002
By A Customer
I picked up a copy of Once Blue's album after catching them as the opening act for The Beautiful South at the old 9:30 Club in DC. It was the fall of 1995. Over six years later, I still think this was one of the best duos to come out of the NY pop scene in the 90s. The songs are catchy, intelligent, and have a very unique style. The sound quality is excellent. Too bad the duo broke up before reaching any sort of media attention. Rebecca Martin, the singer, is still out there, recording strong solo albums that display her amazing, unique voice. Jesse Harris plays on Norah Jones' new album, and wrote a couple of songs for it. For those of you missing Once Blue, pick up Norah's CD and listen to the first track ("Don't Know Why") or catch the video on MTV. The similarity to Once Blue is eerie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Re-released Once Blue record with 9 bonus tracks, September 20, 2003
By A Customer
Just want you to know that the 'Once Blue' recording was just re-released (Sept. 2003) on EMI/Toshiba in Japan. There are 9 bonus tracks of songs that were intended for the second recording added to the CD (bringing the total number of tracks to 21).

Currently, it's difficult to find in the states, but you will be able to purchase it from either rebeccamartin.com or jesseharrismusic.com

Please visit. We're excited for everyone to hear it of course.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hidden gem that thankfully it's just in my memory., February 6, 2004

Actually it's lucky this CD doesn't just exist in my mind. I got one of the songs in my head and it took me over two hours to remember which CD it was off of. It's hard to imagine such a great group just put out one CD. Reminds me of October Project. Both beautiful musical groups that broke up before their time. There are some wonderful tunes on this CD. You know it's a great CD when you don't skip a single song. This is a great CD. I didn't skip nary a one.
