Biography

Theodore DeReese Pendergrass, Sr. was born on March 26, 1950 in Philadelphia and would go on to be one of the leading soul singers of the Philadelphia Soul sound. His career really started when his band, titled Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes even though "Teddy" was the lead singer, was signed to Philadelphia International Records in 1972 by songwriting duo Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

Stephanie Mills & Ralph MacDonald both guest on the album. 11 tracks total, also including 'Where Did All The Lovin' Go?', 'It's You I Love' & 'Shout And Scream' added as bonus tracks not on the 1993 U.S. reissue. 1999 Westside release. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This CD is excellent. Teddy Pebdergrass has such a soulful
voice. This CD is excellent. The song LOVE TKO is a masterpiece
and fits well into this CD

Although it was not issued as a single, Teddy's majestic and powerhouse cover version of Ashford & Simpson's "Is It Still Good To Ya?" is one of his most dramatic and powerful performances--so much so, in fact, that it's the CD's crown jewel. "Love TKO", "Can't We Try?" and Teddy's duet with Stephanie Mills "Feel The Fire" were the big hits but "Is It Still Good To Ya?" is the real reasonfor buyuing this CD. NOTE: this U.K. import contains three bonus tracks not featured on the U.S. version plus better sound quality.
