5.0 out of 5 stars Western Story teller, January 12, 2000
Chris is a great wesern storyteller. In the song "Call of the wild", I can picture the places that he sings about and see "an eagle as she glides..." In "You just cant see him from the road", reminds me of some of the colorful chacters that I've me while living as a boy out west. Awsome CD that tell's it like it is. Like Garth Brooks said it best in his live version of "Much too young..." "Godbless Chris LeDouix!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Stuck in Ct., February 17, 2008
By David Depaola (Waterbury Ct.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This album was recorded in the early 90's about the time Mr. Ledoux caught on with the "other " country music crowd. His "Cadillc Ranch" may have been the most popular by radio standards and later made into a dance tune...with extended play time. "Little Long Haired Outlaw" and "Hooked on an 8 second ride" are on the rock and roll side ..upbeat. He slows it down with "Look at you girl" and does well for not having the greatest crooner voice. But my favorite on this album, and is worth the price alone is "Cant see him from the road. It's about the American Cowboy and how he's still around. Not on the big screen anymore ..and its not Crokadile Dundee." He's still out there ridin fences..you just can't see him from the road." If you've visited Wyoming or be lucky enought to reside there you know what he means. GREAT SONG!!!! Hits the nail on the head. God Bless the Man

5.0 out of 5 stars Rodeo Cowboys and Lost Heroes, April 10, 2007
Whatch Gonna Do with a Cowboy, quickly became Chris LeDoux's and the Western Underground's flagship album. It carries such tracks as: Hooked on a 8 second ride, in which Chris sings about how addicting the rodeo lifestyle is. Making ends meet, was not written by Chris, but certainly fit his lifestyle. You just can't see him from the road, depicts the dying western film industry, where cowboys like John Wayne and Alan Ladd were wrangling cattle and maybe saving a damsel in distress. Probably the most popular Chris LeDoux song was Cadillac Ranch, which is about a farming/ranching family, which met with hard times, so they turned barn into a bar, gave all the cattle away, and now all they raise is "cain." Chris LeDoux, may not have had many fans, but the ones he had, and could empathize with his life, were diehards. They share the same passions. Like Garth Brooks, I am a LeDoux fan. I can relate to his lifestyle, his longing for the open prairies and snow capped mountains, even his longing to work cattle or mend fences. Chris was a man that did what was required to sustain his Wyoming ranch. This is what makes Chris' songs so authentic. He sang the songs that reflect his life, the good and the bad aspects of it. This is not a hip-hop or pop album, if you like that kind of music this isn't for you. However, if you can appreciate authentic ranch life and have ever worked cattle in the middle of a snow storm, ever went eight seconds on a crow-hopping bronc, ever tied a calf in under ten seconds then this is you music, or if you haven't, but envy the people that have, well this is your kind of music and I can bet that the volume on your compact disc player will be hitting the max.
