5.0 out of 5 stars Nice way to spend an hour with old pal or new friend Al..., October 1, 2004
There are several Stewart compilation CD's out there, and this was one of the first, but it remains one of the best. It mixes his historical sagas and his soft rock relationship songs in a sensible manner. If you are a fan, no one disc will have ALL your favorites. I would have liked to hear "If It Doesn't Come Naturally, Leave It" on this offering, probably in the place of "Midnight Rocks." However, this CD contains "Delia's Gone", one of Al's nicest "love is lost" compositions, and that track is indeed hard to find on CD. Otherwise, this has his biggest hits and his most interesting cerebral songs, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy It If You Must, August 4, 2000
By A Customer
Don't buy this CD. It's a waste of money. After you listen to it a few times, you'll just have to buy all the rest anyway. So save a few buck, and buy all his other CDs now. Then you won't need the "greatest hits."

Oh, well...If you just have buy it. Go ahead. But when you come back for Russians & Americans, Zero She Flies, Year of the Cat, Rhymes in Rooms, Famous Last Words, Orange, Modern Times, and the rest, don't say I didn't warn you.

BTW: Rolling Stone says that Stewart has "repudiated" his first four albums. He didn't look unhappy (just surprised) when he signed my copy of Bedsitter Images. : )

5.0 out of 5 stars not enough!, June 2, 2000
By A Customer
To properly do a "best of" Al Stewart you would need to have at least a 4 disk box set. For a single disk, this is a very good start ... although he released some very good material after this one was released too. I can hardly wait to see what he comes up with next!
