2.0 out of 5 stars strictly for the die-hards, March 14, 2005
About the only thing this album is worth is the inclusion of the original mixes of Boyz N Tha Hood and Dope Man. They aren't that drastically different than the versions that appeared on Eazy-Duz-It and Straight Outta Compton. There is also the lame clean version of 8-Ball (NOT the original song, but a clean, radio version, which is only interesting in that it was on the D.O.C's "It's Funky Enough". This hodge-podge was thrown together by Macola more-or-less to make some money off of NWA, whose future at that point was up in the air because Ice Cube was off at college. The songs came from the "Boyz" 12", the "Panic Zone" 12" and were rounded out by D.O.C.'s Fila Fresh Crew and the song "Scream" by Rappinstine, which was later replaced by "A Bitch Iz A Bitch" when Ruthless got the rights back to this album in 1989. (That song was originally on the Express Yourself 12" and is now a bonus track on "Straight Outta Compton" as well).
This is interesting more or less for historical purposes, but there's nothing on really that's all that important. Aside from the original mixes of "Boyz" and "Dope Man", this is for die-hards only. The rest is 2nd rate typical early/mid 80's generic rap, which gives no indication of what would follow.

4.0 out of 5 stars N.W.A. and The Posse, September 3, 1998
By sprang@triton.net (Grand Haven, Michigan) - See all my reviews
For all you old school hardcore rap lovers, this is the C.D. for you. When this C.D. released in 1989, it had no parallel, and still has no parallel today. Never has the world seen such a collection of rap musicians at the beginings of their soon-to-be successful careers. I recommend it to all who love the early years of rap in its purest form, HARDCORE!!! If you like this C.D., I also recommend the early years of Public Enemy.

5.0 out of 5 stars NWA And The Posse--Debut Album, October 8, 2002
By Bill Roddriedriez Connor (Columbus, Georgia) - See all my reviews
If you are a true hardcore rap fan, gangsta rap fan and a true NWA fan, you need this debut CD by NWA into your collection. This is my all-time favorite rap album. My most favorite tracks on this CD are: "Boyz-N-Tha Hood," "A ***** Iz A *****," "8 Ball," "LA Is Tha Place," "Dopeman," "The Tuffest Man Alive." If you are into the old school hip hop, this is the CD you need to purchase.
