Biography

With their brutal, simple riffs and aggressive, fast tempos, Accept was one of the top metal bands of the early '80s, and a major influence on the development of thrash. Led by the unique vocal stylings of screeching banshee Udo Dirkschneider, the band forged an instantly recognizable sound and was notorious as one of the decade's fiercest live acts. Despite recording two of the best heavy metal… Read more in Amazon's Accept Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

In its heyday, the criminally underrated Accept could blister and burn with the best of 'em. "Fast As a Shark" was a classic precursor to thrash, and Balls to the Wall was '80s metal at its most outrageous. But the group's umpteenth outing, Predator, is a bit disappointing. Maybe vocalist Udo Dirkschneider has just mellowed with age (What is he now, 60?), but Accept is now playing the kind of bluesy, melody-laden tunes it once rallied against. Okay, songs like "Hard Attack" and "Crucified" still rage with fury, but elsewhere the band sounds too much like ZZ Top and The Cult for comfort. --Jon Wiederhorn

5.0 out of 5 stars Jon Wiederhorn??, October 10, 1999
By A Customer
I think Jon was not in a right state of mind or something when he chipped in his review of this album. More than likely he decided to give U.D.O.'s "Solid" album a listen and think twice about whether or not the Tank's age is in question. And a comparison to ZZ Top??? I'm really stumped on that one. He might as well compare Slayer to Shania Twain. It was a real treat to hear Peter sing again. The duet with Udo on Crossroads is a fan's dream come true. Hard Attack and Take Out The Crime make any ZZ Top song sound like a nursery rhyme.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any Accept fan!, May 21, 2000
This review is from: Predator (Audio CD)
In the 90s, when many other hard rock bands weren't doing as well as the previous decande, Accept was still as good as ever. This album may not have quite the level of intensity of Death Row or Restless & Wild, but it's definitely close. This is a typical Accept album; it is fast, aggressive, & technically adept hard rock. I totally agree with the reviewer who said that this is nothing like ZZ Top about that! My only complaints about this album are the last song "Primitive" which isn't too great (but not bad) and Peter's singing on many of the songs (the duet with Udo was nice, but I thought there were too many places on the album where Peter sung.) Even if you haven't heard much Accept, but you like power metal music, you'll probably like this album very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final studio release,outstanding power rock-grab it!!!!!!, January 4, 1999
By burt@ballcom.com (Park Falls, Wi) - See all my reviews
This final studio CD from Germany is as good and as explosive as all the rest. Peter Bates really stands out on this CD, Lay It Down & It Ain't Over Yet feature him. Run Through The Night is a throw back to the power ballad - the rest is pure power rock. True rockers will love this. Temendous guitar work, they are really together on this one. A must have for all power people.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK, But Nowhere Near As Good As Their Previous Releases
I have been a long time Accept fan since I first heard them at high school, but I must say that this album is nowhere near as good as their previous releases. Read more
