4.0 out of 5 stars This Review is For People Who havn't bought any Old AFI yet,, July 14, 2001
Alright this CD is cool, i own all AFI's cds to date, but I gotta say this is my least favorite. Its a good punk rock cd but if you absolutly love The Art of Drowning, Black Sails in the Sunset, All Hallows ep, AFI ep, and Shut your Mouth and Open your Eyes, this could be a big let down for you. Now im not bashing the record at all here, i dont want anyone reading this to get the wrong impression, my own personal input of AFI is that their new stuff is A LOT better than their old punk rock sound on almost every account; lyrics, musicianship, energy, emotion. If you want to check out their older stuff check out their first recording Answer That and Stay Fashionable, I think is has more catchy songs and lyrics, or download some of their old punk rock, my recommendadtions for that would be Perfect Fit, or Highschool Football Hero to get the picture about their first two records. If your into pennywise, NOFX, Millencolin, Bad Religion, and other bands of similar punk nature definatly check it out it rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars A.F.I.'s 1st release is a classic, February 25, 2002
By Arilitt "Chris Skabla" (bensalem, pa USA) - See all my reviews
Any fan of the more recent A.F.I. releases would be slightly confused by this release. First of all its not as hard, this cd is less hardcore and more punk. Secondly at this point in time A.F.I. didn't take themselves as seriously as they do now. Most of the lyrics are still serious and of course self-depreciating, but there is a hint of humor thrown in here and there to even things out.
Even though very proud of ya is different than later releases it doesn't mean that it is inferior, in fact it's better than almost all their other cd's (with the exception of shut your mouth and open your eyes). The cd has a snotty punk rock feel, the drums are fast and furious, the songs are catchy with sing-a-long choruses that will get stuck in your head for days. Davey's voice is higher than on the later releases (because he got older, duh.), and he doesn't scream as much, but the music is still incredibley intense and emotional.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Good Old Days, June 27, 2006
By JB NINE "JBNINE" (Orange Park, FL USA) - See all my reviews
If you started listening to AFI when this cd was released then you know they changed the sound big time. For me that is when I said "I 'll just stick to the first two cds". I'm really not in to thier whole new "hardcore" style they have now. I just saw the video on MTV for the latest single and boy what a laugh. I guess it happens to a lot of bands. But it sucks when they change from a band you like to hear, to band that hurts your ears. I still remember seeing them open up for Guttermouth in 1996 and then hearing this cd played in the record store, buying it like a week after it came out and having many bedroom concerts..hahaha Those were The Good Old Days.
