The drama. The beauty. The grandeur. Words, music, and performance come together to reach the height of artistic transcendence. Jessye Norman absolutely owns this piece - nobody will be able to sing Beim Schlafengehen better. Brava, Jessye!

I like the sound of German sung from Jessye Norman's lips. There is dignity and tragedy, sorrow in song. But listening to it now it is wunderkind. She projects powerfully and playfully. We should hear more of her on PBS.
