4.0 out of 5 stars exciting mix of orchestra and dance music, August 28, 2001
By "djinvader" (Perth, W.A. Australia) - See all my reviews
This is a very different soundtrack. I rate Michael Kamen's work as some of the best, and Orbital is a producers who's been around for years and knows his stuff inside out. The disc is made up of four tracks ranging between 4 mins and 13 mins in length. It is quite spooky in parts, mainly when Orbital's heavily effected drum loops break into the mix. It does add a new dimension to the whol thing, one minute your listening to a nice string section, the next these 909 kick drums and dance loops are interwoven into it. Very classy. My only gripe with this soundtrack is that by the time you reach the last track, its all starting to sound the same. The last (and shortest) track seems to sound more like an edited version of the first track as well. Apart from that, its an excellent and innovative soundtrack. It's a blend of two musical style that sit well with each other when done right, and is something that more composers should incorporate into the scores.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect horror-CD that makes you climp on the walls..., August 26, 1999
By A Customer
I must admit that I wasn't looking for this CD when I went to the record-store. But, lucky as I am, I sam it in the corner of my view and now I am a happy 73 year old owner of this psycologically detstroying record. My guess is that I will have to see the movie too before I die. But my summary of this CD is that Michael Kamen, this "Orbital" and the London Metropolitan Orchestra is a immortal combination.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wickedly warped, just like the film., October 25, 2003
By Hogarth Hughes (Rockwell, ME) - See all my reviews
Excellent mix of techno and classical orchestration. The mood of this disc almost beats out the film in the gloom catagory. A great recording to listen to when the lights are out, it's just plain scary music. MICHAEL KAMEN's best work (next to BAND OF BROTHERS), and when mixed with ORBITAL's electro-drums and a slew of haunting voices, tics, and beeps; makes for a rich, eerie sound environment for fans of the film and not. A great cd for those who really like scary stuff and cool, creeping tempos, EVENT HORIZON is a great soundtrack.

The soundtrack is like the movie. In the movie, a space ship disappears and returns 7 years later. But it is not the same. It now has a personality: PURE EVIL. Read more
