Usually known for her more upbeat, happy songs, Ella shows her full emotional and vocal range in this album. Complete with the famously infamous Mack the Knife mix-up in the Berlin Jazz Festival and the amazing scat-riddled Cottontale, I recommend this cd with every inch of my soul. A favorite track, and rarely heard in such good form, is "I got it bad." Both a fantastic pick for jazz connoseurs and those just starting out.
