Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Grant Lee Buffalo shares a common spirit with postmodern wackos the Flaming Lips, but the L.A. trio has a less noisy, more folk-oriented bent. On its Slash Records debut, Fuzzy, the band mixes influences as diverse as the Byrds and the Cowsills, and the Fugs and Leonard Cohen. Guitarist/vocalist Grant Lee Phillips delivers his skewed visions of Americana in a deep, strong voice, while Paul Kimble and drummer Joey Peters provide a shifting melodic and rhythmic background that is always intriguing. --Jim DeRogatis

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this album., July 10, 1999
By A Customer
'Fuzzy' is an album that winds the bittersweet nostalgia of a faded, yellowed American flag with incredibly intelligent songwriting. Not a single song on this album is disappointing: some really rock, some tug at your soul, some are clever enough to make you laugh out loud...Buy this album if you are a true fan of good, honest music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grant Lee Buffalo Gots Da Flow!!!, March 8, 1999
By A Customer
I'll be brief, Grant lee Buffalo is the f*cking greatest. It all started here with this masterpiece of an album and just blew the hell up. I listen to this and get angered that people would rather listen to BAckstreet Boyz then this fine album. Oh well, what can I say...most people are complete morons. Save the human race, listen to GRANT LEE BUFFALO!

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is incredible, June 16, 1998
By A Customer
"Fuzzy" is a powerful debut for Grant Lee Buffalo. It manages to be one of those rare albums in which each successive hearing brings out moods and depth that make the songs seem brand new all over again. The highlights are the 3-song suite of "Fuzzy," "Wish You Well," and "The Hook," each of which aches to the bone as deeply as the saddest lovesongs. But the focus of the album is its confident versatility and its panoramic lyrical landscapes. Each song is like a short movie, reminiscient in lyrical style to Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush." I strongly recommend this album to anybody, whether your tastes run to hard rock, country, folk, or alternative.
