4.0 out of 5 stars A rockin' good time, April 30, 2005
By Brophdog (SLC, UT) - See all my reviews
This is a very FUN tribute album. If you are a serious, die hard Duran Duranie, you probably won't like this (or any other tribute album dedicated to Duran Duran). However, for the rest of us, this has a bunch of creative interpretations of these great songs. I bought the CD for Goldfinger's version of Rio (which includes a hilarious 30 second break into Dio's `Rainbow in the Dark'). Other very good renditions come from Jimmy Eat World (New Religon), the Deftones (the Chauffeur), and Less than Jake (The Reflex).
The album is very reminescint of 80's hair bands with some songs that rock out, with an occasional power ballad. It won't be the best album you ever buy, but it's a good time.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent covers by punk/ska bands, November 22, 1998
as a true duran duran fan in my youth, then a punk/ska listener and player, nothing could have been more welcome than this tribute. if duran duran was ever your secret vice, this album will do the trick. those boys should be proud their songs ported so well to the punk/ska style.

i have converted my tribute disc to mp3 so i can listen at work on my sun station, and often folks stop by to ask "who's playing that?!? that's a great cover!" many of the bands featured had some great ideas to input, and i highly recommend this to any who like either duran duran or punk/ska.

now, if only a punk/ska beatles tribute could happen :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Duran Duran heaven.. yeaey, June 26, 1999
By A Customer
i'm a sucker for tribute albums, and a hardcore Duranie, and I love punk and ska. So it was only natural for me to get this cd. All i have to say is... I love it! Aside from several tracks that were, well, not good (to say the least), this album kicked booty. Deftones, Homegrown, Goldfinger, Eve's Plum, Riverfenix, and Wise Crack all do an amazing job at covering my favorite Duran Duran songs. The biggest dissapointment were the songs by the bands i usually love - Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Mr. T Experience and Gob (who manage to squeeze a 6 minute song into a minute and a half... why???). And of course Wesley Willis Fiasco... Fiasco is probably the best word to describe how this band butchered a Duran classic.
