5.0 out of 5 stars An intriguing mixture of trance, new age, and classical, January 3, 1999
Cosmic Baby is well-known in Europe as composer of fine melodic trance and an associate of preeminent German dj and remixer Paul van Dyk. This is not his most highly charged recording; in fact, it seems that the classical aspects of his music (mainly in the form of compositions that owe their style to Eric Satie) have been emphasized here, perhaps in hopes that it will appeal more to American ears. Cosmic Baby is capable of producing high-energy trance, as he has under his "alter ego," Energy 52 (a collaborative project with DJ Kid Paul; their "Cafe Del Mar" was one of the leading trance anthems of 1997 and 1998). What's included here is more muted, melancholy, and at times, wistful. Still, the beauty of the compositions make this a "must buy" for those who appreciate melodic electronic music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Electronica, November 19, 2000
By Astral (MA, USA) - See all my reviews
When I first listened to this CD from my roommate's collection, I have never heard of Cosmic Baby. I gave the entire CD a listen and I was amazed.

This is one of my favorite CDs of all time. If you like the typical trance, techno, Ibiza trance and all that stuff, please move on. You will probably like only two tracks on this album. Too many people confuse this album with a "dancefloor" album--and it really isn't. If anything, "Thinking About Myself" is to be classified as intelligent dance music; it is only unfortunate that people regard this album as a trance album.

Most tracks on this album are nothing but beatiful. On one end of the spectrum, we have the rich-sounding piano composition "Herbst in Berlin", that is only supplemented by well-placed strings in the middle. We also have "Another Day in Another City", which is an emotional track that really fits the title.

"Brooklyn", "Thinking About Myself" are just a few of the notable, atmospheric and beautiful tracks on this album.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the "Fantasia" and "Loops of Infinity" duo, which are two extremely energetic, yet very melodic tracks.

If anything, the weakest track in the album is "Cosmic Greets Florida". I think that track lacks the character and emotion that all other tracks on this album have. Sadly, a lot of people regard it as "one of best" tracks on the album.

Cosmic Baby is an intelligent electronica artist for me, just because of this album. When people tell you that electronica is cold and heartless, I always play them this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classical/uplifting/cosmicTeckno, July 17, 1998
By A Customer
Very interesting album. Classical mixed with teckno. The album is worth buying just for fantasia. A distinct reminder from the "good ol" days when they played an anthem and the joy welled up inside to burst out in exstacy. A solid addition to one's collection

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but Cosmic's European releases are better
Cosmic Baby is another German trance staple I would place in a category with Paul van Dyk. His live sets are amazing, but this disc is sadly lacking in that area. Read more
