A wistful, sentimental journey that takes your breath away, May 25, 2003
The work of artists from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Wales, Cape Breton Island, Galicia and America is featured in this primarily gentle and reflective collection featuring both accoustic and electronic instruments, as well as some vocals. Though mostly mellow, these evocative, heartfelt selections still command one's attention, leaving one yearning for more. The contributing musicians are William Coulter, Orion, The Barra MacNeils, 4 yn y Bar, Natalie MacMaster, Milladoiro, the Poozies, Maire Breatnach, Maighread Ni Dhomhmaill, William Jackson, John Whelan/Eileen Ivers, Altan, Deanta, Deiseal, Dominig Bouchaud, Cyrille Colas and Talitha MacKenzie. Especially poignant are Deanta's "Harvest of Culloden", Orion's "Douce Mousitomanie", Natalie MacMaster's "If Ever You Were Mine", and Maire Breatnach's "The Swans at Coole" and Dominig Bouchaud's "Une chanson a la mariee". If you like the music of "Celtic Legacy", you'll also enjoy a similar compilation by Narada entitled "Celtic Odyssey".
