Editorial Reviews

Opera News

The German composer Hanns Eisler (1898-1962) ... was a committed Marxist who put all his music at the service of the proletariat. Sixty minutes of holding one's nose to the grindstone of man's inhumanity can be trying, but much is redeemed by the singing of Monika Moldenhauer (the solo voice) and her backing of clarinet, piano and string instrumentalists.
