Editorial Reviews

Product Description

" In World War I, the first primitive tanks appeared on the battlefield. Slow and unreliable, they nevertheless played a vital role in crucial engagements, and heralded a new age of ground warfare. ARMORED ATTACK rumbles through the history of tank combat, presenting the machines and men who have changed the face of war and the tactics that they employ. From the Nazi Blitzkrieg to American M-1's blasting across the Iraqi desert, combat footage shows these massive machines in action. Meet the men who have served aboard them, and hear stories of some of the most famous battles in history, where these steel monsters have shaped history. Explore the revolutionary tactics of commanders like Patton and Rommel, and examine their greatest victories. And get an up-close look at some of the most important armored vehicles ever built, from World War II Sherman tanks to the revolutionary Bradley Fighting Vehicle."

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazon mixed 2 unrelated videos, April 6, 2005
Amazon's product description & the attached "box foto" relate to an A&E educational documentary (prob. only 50 min. long) about the history of tank warfare over the last century. But all the reviews relate to a totally DIFFERENT video, a fiction film running appx. 2 hours, directed by Lewis Milestone & written by Lillian Hellman in 1943-44, with stars like Dana Andrews, Anne Baxter, Walter Huston, & Erich Stroheim.

Each video has its own interest, but it should be made clear which is which, so that buyers will get what they think they are getting! -- Prof Steven P Hill, University of Illinois.
