4.0 out of 5 stars Its a Mancini but not that Mancini!, June 23, 2001
By Carlos from Rio "Carlos from Rio" (Rio de Janeiro, RJ Brazil) - See all my reviews

A second series disc on the same material is always a dangerous project for an artist. The strong reference of the first original Peter Gunn album made expectations on this too high. This is a Mancini but not as brilliant a Mancini as the first Gunn. I have both and oh, I have also the soundtrack for Peter Gunn, the film. But I am a big fan of The Man. If its to be your first Mancini, I suggest you prefer the original which is also here @ Amazon. Ave Mancini.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Music is more diverse, August 7, 1999
By DJ Rix (NJ USA) - See all my reviews
I can't imagine owning the original Peter Gunn soundtrack without having this one also. More Music is more diverse, containing the exciting "Blue Steel," the Duane Eddy-like "Spook," & winsome cuts like "Walkin' Bass." "Little Man Theme," & "Goofin at the Coffeehouse." Featured players include Shelly Manne, Pete Candoli & Plas Johnson. & a big band that includes four - count em - French horns.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sonn of Gunn, June 4, 2000
By Victor Andersen (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This CD contains all tracks from the original "More Music from Peter Gunn" Soundtrack LP. It includes 5 additional redundant or unrelated Mancini tracks. The music here is every bit as good as in the first Peter Gunn volume. The two Peter Gunn albums plus the Mr. Lucky album make a trilogy of cool TV detective music from late 50's television.

More Mancini and more "Gunn." If you're a Mancini fan or just like 50s big-band/jazz, you'll enjoy it, but all in all, the music's better on the first "Gunn" set. Read more

One of the best light jazz albums ever. Mancini was the greatest composer of "light and breezy" jazz. Don't miss this for your collection!

Compared to the first album, it's more of the same, with tunes not good enough for the first.

That said, I recommend it. Read more
