5.0 out of 5 stars Make it a Molly Millennium ....., January 12, 2000
........ and buy this record! Unlike the last two reviewers, who seem to be living in a 1982 time-warp, I am a Molly Hatchet fan of 20 years, seen 'em, played the music and rate this album as their best yet. Like many healthy bands the music (and, in this case, line-up) has evolved and matured - retaining Southern Roots at it's heart whilst also developing a gutsy but polished rock sound for the 21st Century. I also say this acknowledging full well the important part every past band member has played in the Molly Hatchet story. If you have an open mind and are in the least bit interested in 'honest to goodness Rock n' Roll' give this album a try. Would you trust 'reviewers' who try to define Southern Rock in 11 words or admit to burying their head in a 1985 sandpit? Believe me - the album is fresh and awesome. Keep on Rockin' Molly ! I'm with you guys!

4.0 out of 5 stars Let's be fair...this is a solid album., February 23, 2006

Some people hate the fact that Phil McCormack sounds like Danny Joe Brown...probably the same ones who hate the fact that Journey's Steve Augeri sounds like Steve Perry and Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zandt sounds like Ronnie Van Zandt. C'est la vie. "Silent Reign Of Heroes" has the same balance between hard-driving rockers and power ballads found in the best of Hatchet's DJB catalog. The 8 minute title track may be another "Free Bird-slash-Green Grass & High Tides" retread, but so WHAT? The band is doing its best to create new material and they work their backsides off all over the world, bringing happiness to fans of the old songs. Don't like it? Don't listen to it...it's that simple. For everyone else, you're in for a treat.

4.0 out of 5 stars ALL HAIL HATCHET !! HARD ROCK LIVES - SOUTHERN STYLE., April 15, 1999
By A Customer
Another killer CD from the "phoenix" like new version of Molly Hatchet. A mixture of hard rock, boogie and epics, this album is even better than it's GREAT predecessor "Devils Canyon" and that is no small feat. What "Hatchet" have done is to move from a southern boogie rock band to a Hard Rock band with a Southern Boogie flavor. That may sound like a subtle difference, but just one listen to either of the last 2 albums and you'll be slammed with some great HARD ROCK!! The key to this rejuvenated outfit is clearly Bobby Ingram. Assuming the role of band leader, Ingram not only plays lead guitar, but writes most of the tracks - and that is the best thing about this new version of Hatchet - the songs are GREAT. It's usually a very bad sign if none of the members of a group are original members. It usually signals sellout for $$$$, but NOT in this case. I'm sure true blue fans will disagree with me. but this gang is BETTER that the original. Even though Ingram didn't join Hatchet until the 1989 "Lightning Strikes Twice" album he has been close to the fold since the group's inception. Original singer Danny Joe Brown sang in Ingrams local band in Florida before joining Hatchet and when Brown left after the "Flirtin' with Disaster" album to form his own "Danny Joe Brown Band" - Ingram was his guitar player. So he truly does have a legitimate tradition to carry on this band's legacy. ALL HAIL HATCHET!!!!
