Great Collection Of Jigsaw Pieces For A Perfect Puzzle, October 4, 2001
By A Customer
Whenever I think of Jigsaw, I think of "Sky High." Who could forget one of the most infectious, interesting, and unique songs of the 1970's? It was a smash in 1975, and once you hear it, you can't get it out of your head. I heard it as a small child on my parents' 45 record, and didn't particularly like it. It sounded too "strange" for my liking at that time. Just a few years ago, my parents and I got out all the old 45's and listened to them. When I heard "Sky High" start up, it nearly took my breath away. It was the first time I had heard it in several years, and I totally fell in love with it. I rushed out and got it on CD. The poor 45 record of it had gotten warped over the years. Later, I bought this album of Jigsaw to see what else they played. I had never heard any of their songs other than "Sky High," and I was glad I bought this album. It really shows the group's unique talent. My favorite song is of course, "Sky High." The intensity and punch of the instruments on that song vibrate through your body. Jigsaw's harmonizing in the song is nothing like you've ever heard! When they sing, "You''ve blown it all sky high," their high-pitched and intense harmonizing soars, giving you a "sky high" kind of feeling that is difficult to explain. The build-up at the beginning of the song gets your attention immediately. It starts off with this faint "boing....boing...boing....boing" sound, then explodes with a drum punch and the sound of the instruments playing intensly; almost urgently. The intruments in the background give off kind of an intense, swirling (like your in the sky) kind of sound. It kind of reminds you of the cartoons with lots of wind and tornadoes. The horns are also very intense and demanding in this song. All this goes on throughout the song giving it a full effect. When the lead singer starts up, his voice echos "gone, gone, gone, gone......." It's almost mysterious. He starts out singing in kind of a "swirling around" kind of way that fits with the whole theme. The beat of the song is swift, and makes you want to move. My other favorite songs are "Love Fire," "Stop The Show," and "You are." "Love Fire" is similar to "Sky High." The rushed beat is almost identical, and Jigsaw's voices climb very nicely. "Stop The Show," has Jigsaw harmonizing very highly, and the music and singing are urgent and intense. "You Are" is a superb song. It is wonderfully heartfelt and filled with emotion, and let's not forget intensity. I think intensity is the theme of Jigsaw's music in general. "Journey Into Space," offers the "echo" in the lyrics like in "Sky High." It gives you a "spacey" feeling. "Cry 'Til The Tears Run Dry," is yet another song with the same lyrical style as in "Sky High." Another unique song is "I." I really got a kick out of that one. It's a little strange but kind of cute. What I really like about Jigsaw is their ability to make you actully "feel" the theme of their songs, and what they are trying to get across to you. The way they project their music at you with all the unique little twists, and intensity (there's that word again), never ceases to make your mind wonder into their world. This whole album is a collection of unique and special "Jigsaw" puzzle pieces that are all put together to create the perfect "puzzle" of Jigsaw's musical talent. Waste no time, and buy this album!

Sky High!!!, November 19, 2006
I agree with the other reviewer. This is intense material. To this day, Sky High remains a rock/pop anthem. Jigsaw stands the true test of time.
