4.0 out of 5 stars Ghetto Love, July 16, 2005
By SmokaJ (TORONTO) - See all my reviews
It took me a while to track this album down, but it was worth the wait. This is a real album, full of street narratives and socially concious rhymes...not a commercial crumb in it. The beats are all on point - I was pleasantly surprised, especially w/ "A Dirty Cop Named Harry," "Ghetto Love," & "Young Guns." The MC's are nothing special, however their messages and presense are fitting to the dark vibe of the album.

Bottom Line: SoHKs have a message and all Hip-Hop heads should hear it...and nod their heads while doing so. 4 stars, Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars old school in da bones, September 2, 2003
one of my favourite rap albums. raw, powerfull without any anoying extravaganza. just hard knocks on your ears. "a dirty cop named harry" is a must have on every rap sampler. i wish there would be more albums like this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Keep Sleepin'!!, September 11, 2008
This review is from: School of Hard Knocks (Audio CD)
I just recently found out about this album from the great Amazon Hip Hop Forum and I am glad to finally hear it. This really slipped pass me during the 90's because I remember nothing about them. It is one MC and his DJ and they made a real good cd.

It's short but to the point and the rapper is one of the few MC's with a monotone and one range voice that can keep your attention. His word play is very good and he speaks clear. The production is gritty and laidback at the sametime. Dope pick-up!! Hotep!
