Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
The Blade soundtrack matches up with expectations for the film pretty well: there are a few artists who have done some consistently good work, most of whom seem to be slumming it here (KRS-One, Gang Starr); there are a couple trying to change their image and prove that they can be relevant in another context (New Order); there's a completely unexpected appearance by someone you'd completely forgotten about (Mantronik); and there are plenty of forgettable turns by wannabes, could-bes, and should-bes (Mystikal, Kasino, P.A.). The album finally picks up toward the end, with Mantronik's club-hopping EPMD remix, New Order's techno turn, Expansion Union's dance track, and DJ Krush's lounge vibe. --Randy Silver

2.0 out of 5 stars ONLY 4 songs of the soundtrack R in the movie!!!, September 29, 2002
By A Customer
After reviewing the credits, actually only FOUR of the songs in this album ARE in the movie and they are the tracks by new order, dj krush, expansion union and junkie xl... the rest is ... rap that has NOTHING to do with the motion picture (...INSPIRED BY...???).

For all of you that are looking for the missing tracks (most of them techno, electronic or even ambient) here's a list of the songs that SHOULD have been in this cd...

-"Go Get On It" by Southside Reverb (first ending credits song)

-"Call & Response" by Source Direct

-"Yeah" by DJ Krush

-"Rattle the Fear" by Spirit Fire Child

-"Ni Ten Ichi Ryu (Two Swords Technique)" by Photek

-"UT1-Dot" by Polygon Window

-"Ether" by Siren

-"Ah Singapore" by Shonen Knife

-"Chin Chin" by Bang Wu Cherry and DJ Dune (features "Japanese Schoolgirl Rap" played in the Night Club scene)

-"Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival

...and for the "ambient" music:

-"Soleil" by Solitaire

-"Eclipse" by Solitaire

-"Fearless" by Solitaire

-"Rainbow Voice" by David Hykes

3.0 out of 5 stars Shonen Knife?, March 26, 2001
By Sarah Ovenall (Durham, NC United States) - See all my reviews
Shonen Knife did music for this film (they aren't, alas, on the CD), but they did not perform the music in the club scene. The Japanese schoolgirl band is called Bang Wa Cherry, and the song is "Chin Chin." Information about Bang Wa Cherry, like do they have an album, seems hard to find. But if you search Shonen Knife MP3s, you'll find copies of "Chin Chin" misidentified as "Ah Singapore" (the track from the movie which was actually by Shonen Knife).

1.0 out of 5 stars Napster is your friend., August 31, 2000
By Jeremy (Maine) - See all my reviews
The Confusion track rocks hard - great dance music, great kickboxing background music. Just about all the other tracks are stuff that isn't in the movie. I guess they're okay if you like rap, but it is misleading to call this a "soundtrack".

If you're looking for that hot teen Japanese girl action, search Napster for Shonen Knife. The song from the movie is "Ah Singapore".
