4.0 out of 5 stars Metal., April 16, 2003
By "aiylyn" (Washington, Mi United States) - See all my reviews
Far too often, older fans of ExC pan their later records due to the fact that they are "really bad metalcore." Well, I say that if you look at their metal period from a METAL standpoint instead of from a hardcore purist standpoint, they are really well done. Karl's voice sounds the best here, in my opinion, with its unmatched ferocity carrying across the equally charged message in the songs. The musicians backing him all play their parts tight, and the production is killer. This album is ExC at their most metal; after this they strayed into more rap-leaning territory. This is also their toughest-sounding, stylistically. If you like metalcore or Earth Crisis, you should enjoy this.

4.0 out of 5 stars a blow to the face of pure defiant hardcore, October 12, 1998
By marcyd@vcss.k12.ca.us (Moorpark, California) - See all my reviews
Earth Crisis comes across with the most hard-hitting and lyrically controversial album since Rage Against the Machine's debut. "Breed the Killers" is a blow of deep grooves, suprisingly melodic notes, and lead singer Karl's stomach turning growls. It is good to see a band who hasn't conformed one bit since their beginning, especially when the current metal scene consists mostly of Korn imitators. Earth Crisis' potent live show is one of the best, and the energy shows on this album. Check out "End Begins", "Breed the Killers", "Into the Fray", and "One Against All" with Machine Head vocalist Robb Flynn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good music, but the vocals are terrible
This would be a hands down 5 star review if I were judging just the music, because it is damn good music. Too bad the singer, if you can call him that, ruined it all for them. Read more
