Olympus has long been a leader in 35mm point-and-shoot cameras, and the Stylus Zoom 115 DLX is one reason why. Encased in the distinctive, clamshell design favored by Olympus, the Stylus Zoom 115 offers a 38-115mm zoom lens, six flash modes, spot focus, a panorama setting, and a host of other features that make it the toast of mid-range zoom cameras.

To turn the camera on, simply slide open the clamshell lens cover--out pops the lens and flash unit and you're ready to shoot. Control the zoom lens using a small rocker switch that's conveniently located on the top right of the camera next to the large shutter release button. The Stylus Zoom 115 has an autofocus system that can take in subjects as close as 2 feet. The camera's focus-lock feature lets you selectively focus on subjects that are outside the camera's autofocus range. Flash modes include red-eye reduction and night flash; the flash range extends to 16 feet. The camera includes a self-timer, date-time stamp, and a diopter viewfinder adjustment designed for farsighted and nearsighted users. On top of all this, the Stylus Zoom 115 is weatherproof. I am an advanced photographer, worked at it professionally, and posess 8 high-end cameras with boxes of lenses, accessories, etc.

I decided to try the Olympus as a "vacation camera" rather than hauling around camera cases stuffed with equipment. This jewel fits in a shirt pocket.

We headed for the Pacific Northwest. As a test, I decided to leave all the settings on the camera in the default full automatic mode in order to test its capability in dealing with varying photographic situations.

I was amazed. It handled backlight, sidelight, frontlight, full sun, overcast, fog, scenics, closeups, portraits, and anything else I could dream up and produced excellent prints of them all.

Don't worry about tiny buttons; you will rarely use them. The important ones are full size buttons.

I used only Kodak 800 MAX film with Kodak Premium processing, and could not be more pleased. The Olympus is the best "point and shoot" camera I have used.

My husband and I bought this camera and took it on vacation with us. It never got sunny but you wouldn't know it to look at the pictures. Sorry I didn't buy it from Amazon - thier price was ~$100 less than what we paid. END

My wife and I began using the stylus series years ago - starting with the single focus. Since then, we have collected several, including two zooms. They are so good, we find ourselves leaving our full-size 35mm cameras at home. My hobby is birddog training, and you cannot beat them for ease of operation, picture quality, and dependability in the field. I have had the clamshell frozen shut from freeding rain, warmed it in my hand, and then snapped pictures that turned out exceptional. As the editor of "The Flushing Whip," the official publication of the National Red Setter Field Trial Association (NRSFTA), the majority of the pictures published are taken by our Olympus Stylus cameras. Get your hands on one and you will not be disappointed. Happy Hunting!
