5.0 out of 5 stars Great Variety, Awesome CD, July 10, 2001
By Doesn't Matter (New York City, NY) - See all my reviews
This is actually an awesome rock CD. It starts out with a pair of songs from “hair bands” Slaughter and Winger. Slaughter does a cover of the Kiss song “Shout It Out” and “Battle Stations” is actually one of Winger’s hardest songs and probably their best song. Reb Beach sounds better than ever on this track.

The next song up is by Kiss and it’s a cover of God Gave Rock and Roll To You. While it is a great song, it wears thin after awhile, despite that Bruce Kulick and Paul Stanley both sound great on that track.

I’ll skip the wanker tracks and get right to the next great song. Actually, that’s not fair. The next track is “Drinking Again” by Neverland. It’s just not for me.

So, next up is Richie Kotzen’s “Dream Of A New Day”. This is before his ill fated stint as Poison’s guitarist. This song is great. The guitar is simply amazing and the song should have been the single released from the album. Considering the time, it would have easily been a top ten hit.

Next up is Steve Vai. This guy is amazing. The greatest guitar player ever. This is a wicked track. No form, no structure, just Vai blazing away. This is one of the coolest guitar instrumentals you’ll ever hear. I prefer to listen to this over anything from Eric Johnson or Joe Satriani. The guitar is just from another planet.

That’s it for side one, side two isn’t quite as pop oriented. It kicks of with tracks from Faith No More, Megadeth and Primus. And actually, possibly the best songs those bands have ever done. “The Perfect Crime” is the type of song that would have been rammed down your throat if Red Hot Chili Peppers had been creative enough to do it... It’s awesome. “Go To Hell” is definitely one of Megadeth’s better tracks. Between the title and the band you can pretty much figure out what the song is like. The Primus track is, well, different. But of course, it’s Primus. The bass is cool and the vocals are a bit odd, but its actually really catchy. Not a song you’re likely to hear on the radio, but still I think it’s their best ever. This is actually the song that was played in the movie during the battle of the bands, by the band that went on right before Bill and Ted.

The next song is amazing and is worth the price of the CD by itself. Kings X, “Junior’s Gone Wild”. It’s hardcore and definitely the highlight of this awesome CD. I honestly can’t think of anyone else or any other song to compare it too right now. I guess for reference, the music sounds a bit like Jane’s Addiction, but the vocals are completely different.

“Showdown” by Love On Ice. See my comments on “Drinking Again” by Neverland.

Finally, “The Reaper Rap” by Steve Vai. This is pretty cool. It’s more of Steve Vai’s guitar wizardy thrown around audio clips from the movie. It’s camp, and it works. Funny stuff, with some amazing music around it.

This is one of the best hard rock soundtracks you could ever hope to get. 12 songs, and only two that aren’t absolutely incredible. I’m not trying to knock those other two songs, but everything else on this CD is SO good, it would be hard for most bands to keep up. This is just a great CD, and is still fun to listen to today

4.0 out of 5 stars Track Listing - Look At These Kewl Songs, December 7, 2003
I couldn't help but notice that this album isn't given a track listing here on Amazon.com. It's an awesome album - they even included THE REAPER RAP (yes yes yes - where else are you gonna find that? ;), and where else can you hear Primus before they hit it big? Not to mention Megadeath. So here's the low down.

1)Slaughter - Shout It Out
2)Winger - Battle Stations
3)Kiss - God Gave Rock N Roll (Tou You) - the ultimate rock anthem, if you haven't heard this you are seriously missing out.

4)Neverland - Drinking Again
5)Ritchie Kotzen - Dream Of A New Day
6)Steve Vai - The Reaper - Go Reaper!
7)Megadeath - Go To Hell - Perfect for the movie ;)
8)Primus - Tommy The Cat - Interesting effort from Primus
9)King's X - Juinor's Gone Wild
10)Love On Ice - Showdown
11)Faith No More - The Perfect Crime - not one of faith's best but brings back the movie
12)Steve Vai - The Reaper Rap - Go Reaper (i love the reaper :))

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, I mean GREAT soundtrack!, February 28, 1999
By A Customer
If you're into super hard-rockin' tunes, this one's for you. From the opening track to the lenghty Reaper Rap, it doesnt slow down one bit! Primus is better than ever, and Megadeth make beautiful music once again. Hitting beats and loud guitars, all in one. Too bad nobody carries it anymore, I sure would buy 5 extra copies. Anyway, 100% metal and you won't be disappointed.
