Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Just when you thought things couldn't get any sudsier, Ireland sends us their entry for the never-ending Teen Pop Summit that seems to be holding the charts hostage. Marketed as Celtic Spice Girls, B*witched are actually a G-rated version, complete with voices so light and sweet you can barely hear them through the whistles, dance beats, and faux guitar solos that litter this debut. There's a bit of everything here: echoes of Jackson 5 ("Rev It Up"), the intro from "Venus" ("Freak Out"), and song titles straight out of the '50s ("Oh Mr. Postman"). More frothy than their male counterparts, but harder to swallow, B*witched come off like giddy kids-television hosts. The earnest ballad "Castles in the Air" is perhaps the only track that won't offend older (read: 15 and up) ears, but the teenyboppers will love the whole disc. --Rebecca Wallwork

5.0 out of 5 stars This is A COOL CD!, October 22, 1999
By Brittany Rose (Winnipeg, MB) - See all my reviews

Of course, this is upbeat music, but there are some songs which let you chill out. Unsure of getting the album? Here are 12 mini-reviews:

1.The B-Witched Jig -> I'm not a HUGE fan of jigging or anything, but this song is cool because it captures the essence of B*W, with the half dance, have fiddle combo. 3.5/5

2.C'est La Vie -> The song that started it all can be listened to over and over, with it's upbeat beats and cute lyrics, it's no wonder it was a huge hit! 5/5

3.Rev It Up -> A slightly chilled but still very upbeat song, with more catchy lyrics, Rev It Up provides a good starter for the album, pumping you up. The jig in this one is cool. 4/5

4.To You I Belong -> A gorge, sweet song about the girls parents warms you from head to toe, after all, it was their Christmas #1 in the UK. Some love it at first some hate it, but in the end, it'll grow on ya! 4.5/5

5.Rollercoaster -> Another big hit, with a carnival feel. This song is another catchy 'choon with a funky feel. Not as perky as C'est La Vie, but still FAB! 5/5

6.Blame It On The Weatherman -> The girls go acoustic and grow up. The songs rich harmonies and gorge back-up guitars make this song a major plus! The video is the BEST! 5/5

7.We Four Girls -> Going alternative is what the girls do here. The girls go from an soft opening, to a head banging bit, and to the whispering verses. 4/5

8.Castles In The Air -> A gorgeous song about the girls fame, stays soft all the way through. Definately the prettiest song on the album. 5/5

9.Freak out -> The girls go disco and "freak out!" And upbeat party song that take you back to the 70s with a 90's flavour! 4/5

10.Like The Rose -> Another slow soft-spoken song with a tinge of country, this song is gorgeous and memorable. 4/5

11.Never Giving Up -> Another good song, but reminds me a little bit too much of Rev It up. This song features more upbeats sounds and beats though. 4/5

12.Oh Mr.Postman -> The disney sounding tune has grand violins and a cool little story going through it. A nice fun song for the end: 4/5

B*Witched ROCK!!!!!
