As a singer, Cher's a terrific actress. With her suspect pitch and piercing tone, she gives the impression that she couldn't carry a tune if it were tattooed to her butt. Still, she's revived her musical career almost as often as Sinatra did his, scoring 18 Top 10 hits since her mid-'60s days with Sonny Bono. The retrospective If I Could Turn Back Time arrives in the wake of Cher's No. 1 single "Believe." True to its title, it walks through her early-'90s to late-'80s power-ballad period ("Just Like Jesse James," "We All Sleep Alone") to her 1979 disco hit "Take Me Home," the tragicomic concoctions "Half Breed" and "Gypsys, Tramps, and Thieves" and, finally, the original "I Got You Babe." This is such an awesome CD. Cher's album Believe is the one to dance to. This album is the one to sing to. It's been the only CD in my radeo for the past three weeks! It's just song after song after song of great hits to listen/sing to. Gypsies, Tramps, and Theives is my personal favorite. It's well worth getting.

I got this Cd originally as part of a gift order set. I was hesitant at first, because I wasn't really a big Cher fan and knew very little about her older recordings. Since I was born in 1979 and knew very little about Cher as a singer, I always thought that she was an actress who had crossed over into the music buisness.

To my surprise, I fell in love with this CD and take it with me everywhere I go.I have become a full-fledged Cher fan after hearing this CD.

I think that my personal favorites on the album are "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," "Half-Breed," "Dark Lady," "If I could turn back time" and "Save up all your tears."

I thought that adding " I got you babe " and "The Shoop Shoop Song" was a great bonus, because "Shoop Shoop" was the first Cher song that I really liked as a young girl.

The previously unreleased track " Don't come cryin back to me" is pretty good also.

If I were to recommend the one Cher album to buy, I would recommend this one.

"If I Could Turn Back Time, Cher's Greatest Hits", is one of the best Cher CD's ever. It has most of Cher's songs on it. I highly suggest you buy this CD. I give it a 5 star raiting.
